My friends call me Coach
Sean Aaron Bowers is a writer hailing from Portland, Oregon. Bowers spent his formative years “living” on the streets as a drug addict and alcoholic sex worker, embroiled in violence and crime. He took to hitch hiking and hopping freight trains trying to escape the tsunami of consequences that followed him in his wake, taking him all over the United States on some Kerouac-Meets-Dante-esque pilgrimage through the Hell Realms of the American Underbelly.
In his late 20s, Bowers found his way to Boston, Massachusetts where he got sober and off the streets. He soon found refuge in the Boston underground Punk, Hardcore, and Hip Hop scenes, and discovered the transformative capabilities of art and expression as a means of self-discovery and redemption. It was around this time, Bowers was introduced to Buddhist and 12 Step philosophy, which make up the foundation of any-and-all skillful change he has since made in his life.
In 2010, Bowers returned to his hometown of Portland, Oregon where he quickly embedded himself in the local literary scene. Since then, Bowers went to college and received his Bachelor of Arts in English, written two collections of poetry and prose (currently out-of-print), hosted a myriad of literary events and readings, as well as toured the West Coast.
Bowers currently works in a cross section of IT, social service, and finance with a local homeless services non-profit. He tends to his friends and his fish and is currently working on his first screenplay.
